Customer Visits, Continued
|
We
have previously told how customers have provided valuable information
enabling us to make many improvements to the Orbital Action Screening
Plants. In large measure, finding that several of our owners were
screening aggregates and having a few problems generated one of our
most valuable improvement campaigns.
My original business plan
and machine design criteria focused on screening compost, topsoil,
mulch and other products usually not found in the large pits and
quarries. For the most part, small vibrating deck screens known as box
type were used by the smaller operators supplying landscapers and home
owners. I felt aggregates were easy to screen, there were many
manufacturers in that market, so why compete in a full arena.
What
I found was, owners had found the screening methodology we describe as
“Orbital Action” actually excelled over the “Box Type Decks” in several
important ways. It became very apparent we needed to improve our
abilities when screening aggregates.
We also found our basic
machine design was fine, only we needed to prevent small rocks which
bounced around like marbles from finding their way into places where
they caused problems. We focused on bringing on reliable belt type
conveyors to increase carrying capacity and placing guarding and
shielding where there were leaks. Now our screening plants are very
good and fast while screening aggregates.
We look forward to
demonstrating on sites where aggregates are involved as we can usually
improve a site operators ability to make a profit and that is part of
our “Mission”.
Happy screening,
Brad Schnittjer
