Operating Considerations
How much rock will the 68A handle?
(Click on photo for larger picture with more detail) Site "A" | Site "A" This photo shows an example of typical materials screened on an occasional basis. The rock shown will cause no problems when the screen is fitted with our heavy duty optional screen dish. If the large chunk is a piece of concrete with jagged sharp corners, some common sense should be used, as a very large chunk could punch a hole in the screen wire. Do not use the hopper extension with this type of material. For continued work with large rocks, please consider our hardening and grizzly package. |
Site "B" | Site "B" The bottom photo shows a Model 68A, fitted with an optional hopper extension, screening gravel, including rocks up to 10". The orbital action machine is fully capable of continuous use in materials of this type. The fine material has passed through a 3/4" heavy wire screen dish and includes both top soil and gravel under 3/4". It is a very nice looking material, suitable for use in mountain regions where this material type is common. |
| | Shown removing top soil from rocks with a "heavy" 3/4" screen opening. There are many rocks in the 10"/14" range on this job. While we recommend using the Grizzly, this material can be screened with special care and machine adjustments. - Set the space between the hopper and the screen dish to match the larger rocks.
- Set the screen dish rotating speed slower than normal, approximately 18/19 turns per minute.
- Do not drop large rocks more than 32" above the hopper floor.
Other: If a large rock gets caught between the screen dish and the hopper, back the hopper further away from the screen dish. The rock will be released and travel up the overs conveyor. | | |
