The Second Question
After the first question, how much do they cost, everyone wants to know
how much work will one of our Orbital Action Screening Plant do? A
simple request begets a very wide variety of answers.
I will list several factors, all with variable affect on the answers
given. The most important factor, in my opinion, is management talent.
If management focuses on site preparation, material preparation,
machine setup and employee operating efficiencies, results should be
very satisfactory.
Other than setting the machine up level and near to the material to be
screened, selecting the proper screen opening size is generally most
important. It’s quite obvious that your customer has something in mind
as to the acceptable particle size. Given that input, pick a screen
opening size as large as possible while maintaining a suitable product.
Two issues are in play here, first, larger openings will allow for a
faster feed rate, and second blinding (plugging) of the screen is much
less a factor.
Additionally the Orbit Action Screening Plants have many variable speed
and angle adjustments which may support either more through put or
quality of cut. All adjustments are easy to accomplish with results
immediate and easily observed. Operating instructions given on new
machine delivery or in the manuals describe the procedures quite well.
Use of the Performance
Charts:
Each chart offered has basic information about the machine and the
materials being screened to realize the through put numbers
given. Pick a chart that most closely describes your local
conditions, read the numbers and use them as guide lines to begin
calculating your estimated operational results.
Be sure to read and observe the assumptions offered to better
interpolate your potential results.
Next week I will offer a calculator
for your use in project and ownership profit planning.

Brads Blog, “The Finer Cut”, is another of
many
planned. Each issue will cover a topic of interest about our machines,
our industry, our customers and more. I look forward to this task and
am excited about the opportunity to broaden our communications with our
customers and industry. I invite you to return and visit from time to
time, cruising back through issues to see what I may have been thinking
of at another time.
I also invite you, our reader to contribute by offering your comments.
