Winter, a Time to Repair and Improve
As a very young boy, winter with my Uncle Joe was a special time. While
the wind blew the snow around, the plants and trees were dormant and
the soil was resting, the farm equipment must be made ready for another
season. Uncle Joe had that chore and for an extra hand he chose me.
I thought I was a big help however looking back, it was really Uncle
Joe who took the challenge to be my mentor and teach me about all
things mechanical. While Dad, Mother and the Grandparents worked on
living issues, Joe took many hours to show me the intricate problems
that seemed to be inherent with many farm machines and work out
solutions to repair or improve what we had.
Each new project started with a very detailed; usually hand written
review of the problem or shortcoming. This was followed by another
probably longer session detailing possible fixes or methods and parts
needed to improve the machine. During those depression years money was
always short so cost of parts and results expected were carefully
calculated.
Uncle Joe believed that if we didn’t have a quick answer, somewhere out
there in the wide wide world of thoughts would be a solution to fix or
improve. Our task was to concentrate on our problem, be patient and be
through. And eventually an inspiration would come.
I know this sounds a bit corny, off the wall so to speak however I am
here to say, it works for me.
After a life time of fixing, designing and working machines, it took me
eight long years to come up with our Orbital
Action
Screening
Methodology and I am proud to say, it works very
well.
We invite you, our customers and prospects, study your competition,
compare and calculate. How can we all have a better year than the last?
We challenge you; get ready to win in 2010.
Brads Blog, “The Finer Cut”, is another of
many
planned. Each issue will cover a topic of interest about our machines,
our industry, our customers and more. I look forward to this task and
am excited about the opportunity to broaden our communications with our
customers and industry. I invite you to return and visit from time to
time, cruising back through issues to see what I may have been thinking
of at another time.
I also invite you, our reader to contribute by offering your comments.
Please send your thoughts to Brad@orbitscreens.com
