Winter, a Great Time to Plan
As a young boy with farming Parents and Grand Parents who were
dedicated to living off the land and preserving it for future
generations, winter was a special time. Mother Nature provided ample
time for the land to heal and recover from a busy summer of tilling and
growing crops.
This special time also provided the men and women who tilled and worked
the soil time to reflect and plan for the next year. Many winter hours
were spent discussing the past years results while planning to do
better during the next growing season. Being cattle feeders added
another dimension as livestock prices always fluctuated so grain and
roughage storage issues became important as livestock must be cared for
each day.
I had two mentors; my Grandfather and an Uncle who helped prepare me
for my life ahead. My Grandfather focused on teaching me such things
as, “Live each day to accomplish something of value”, whether it be a
relationship or producing something of monetary value. “Always leave
what you have better than it was when you received it”. “Hard work,
reasonably applied never hurt anyone”. “If you study and do anything
just a bit better than others, you win”. “If it is not worth doing
well, it isn’t worth doing at all”, and so much more..
Nearly all of have just finished a difficult business year and are in
the cold season. Orbit Screens is hard at work preparing for the next
production season. We are evaluating our products and tweaking a bit
while adding new ways of building more profit potential into our portable screening systems.
We invite you, our customers and prospects, study your competition
compare and calculate. How can we all have a better year than the last?
We challenge you; get ready to win in 2010.
Next week, I will tell you about my Uncle Joe and how he influenced Orbital Action Screening.
Brads Blog, “The Finer Cut”, is another of many
planned. Each issue will cover a topic of interest about our machines,
our industry, our customers and more. I look forward to this task and
am excited about the opportunity to broaden our communications with our
customers and industry. I invite you to return and visit from time to
time, cruising back through issues to see what I may have been thinking
of at another time.
I also invite you, our reader to contribute by offering your comments.
