A Really Bad Idea
The Administration and much of Congress is now focusing on the
Insurance Industry as being the primary cause of high cost medical care
insurance. As a method of shielding the real culprit, the talking heads
from Congress with the full support of main stream media are loudly
proclaiming, let’s tax everything we can that has a medical
connotation. That will pay the proposed new bill’s cost, saving
taxpayers pocket books.
I believe all Delegates and the Administration know full well the
Insurance Industry is heavily regulated at the state level. An
insurance company must maintain enough reserves to pay all expected
legitimate claims within the license area while meeting all state
(every state they do business in) and federal regulations. If the
Baucus led proposal is passed, it is a sure bet that overall health
insurance costs will increase exponentially.
Illegitimate Medical Malpractice followed by mountainous piles of
government mandated paperwork, are in my opinion major contributors to
health care cost. Both, counted as a cost of doing business, are added
to state regulated allowable rates being charged for a policy.
Applying a new federal tax would only add to state regulated policy
costs. A federal tax on policies, services and equipment would result
in an uncontrollable method of enhancing the Washington payroll of
federal regulators (more paperwork). Our current congress is
conveniently ignoring these facts telling all citizens, we know best
and will take care of you.
Taxing the insurance
industry is a really bad idea, as citizens and voters will
eventually pay all of the bill’s cost. Let’s all take the time and
effort to contact your delegates and express your views. Then at the
next election, vote for the candidate who will express your needs while
in Washington.
Let’s all do our part. Please view, Letter, blog 26 & 27.
Brads Blog, “The Finer Cut”, is another of many
planned. Each issue will cover a topic of interest about our machines,
our industry, our customers and more. I look forward to this task and
am excited about the opportunity to broaden our communications with our
customers and industry. I invite you to return and visit from time to
time, cruising back through issues to see what I may have been thinking
of at another time.
I also invite you, our reader to contribute by offering your comments.
