A Fun Experience
|
Visiting
with our customers on their location has always been a fun experience.
Some are new to us having just purchased a machine. Some are long time
operators of Orbital Action Screening Plants. All have stories to tell
about their machines, most good however some with problems.
These
stories have given me a great opportunity to learn about how each
individual tries to earn his/her living by using Orbit Screens. The
progress made expanding the versatility, performance and reliability of
the Orbital Action Screens comes in large part from applying customer
taught lessons to our products.
I recently delivered a new ¾”
screen dish to a Model 68A owner who had purchased his machine from a
finance company. The machine was in excellent shape and this new owner
had operated it for a couple of weeks. It had come with one screen,
having 3/8” openings which were too small for most of his work.
This
customer is a Husband/Wife team, both of whom were very excited about
their first screening experiences and prospects for making money.
Portability was one of the prime considerations mentioned regarding
purchasing along with versatility and performance.
Their first
experience was to clean up and old set of corrals on their ranch. There
was lots of manure, dirt, weeds, old boards, baling twine, fence wire
and trash along with rocks in the piles pushed up. They told how the
twine and weeds just rolled up into a ball and eventually exited. They
also said, you wouldn’t believe, the wire fence also just formed a
ball, the rocks beat it down and it went up the overs conveyor with no
problems.
He then asked, have I ever watched what it did with
old tires, I hadn’t, so he said, they go around in the screen, bounce
up spinning, going higher with each turn, eventually bouncing high up
in the air, landing in the overs conveyor and going up with the rest of
the overs. He then said, see all of those piles, I did all of that and
haven’t even added fuel yet.
I asked, how did you learn about
us? His answer, do you remember one cold and windy night you were
pulling into the motel up on the Interstate. I saw your machine and
stopped to see it. You took time to show us a little about it. I have
been looking at screens ever since and haven’t found anything better.
Yes, customers make my day. Names, e-mail address and phone numbers of this customer available upon request.
Happy screening,
