The Finer Cut

The KISS Principle II

Last week I mentioned learning of the KISS Principle as a young man and still believing in it today. High on my list of design criteria when starting a new product is to keep all components and assemblies as simple as possible while providing the results required.

Orbital Actions Screens are, in my opinion, a very good example of successfully applying KISS. Each major assembly is fabricated and assembled separately. Only a few minutes time are needed add each assembly to the collection of assemblies comprising a complete machine. Conversely, if a major assembly needs to be removed for service later in the life of the machine, you can have it on saw horses in your shop in minutes.

While removal is quick and easy, the KISS Principle was applied to each assembly so that most service requirements may be completed while the assembly is on the machine.

By utilizing KISS, another major benefit may be realized. Please take a look at the new, Mega Materials Management System. By using major individual components of the Orbital Action Product line in combination with locally available concrete products, a neat, low cost method of marketing, recycling or providing a special select single or blended product to your customers has become available.

KISS now becomes a channel within which we may bring you the greatest dollar value among the many choices you have when purchasing a screening machine.

Brads Blog, “The Finer Cut”, is another of many planned. Each issue will cover a topic of interest about our machines, our industry, our customers and more. I look forward to this task and am excited about the opportunity to broaden our communications with our customers and industry. I invite you to return and visit from time to time, cruising back through issues to see what I may have been thinking of at another time.

I also invite you, our reader to contribute by offering your comments. Please send your thoughts to Brad@orbitscreens.com , by letter or fax, 563-922 9060.

Happy screening
